Esperienza negativa: Premiumpreis ohne Premiumleistung Holmes Place Zürich ist zu einem überteuerten Massenstudio verkommen, das sich hinter einer bröckelnden Premium-Fassade versteckt. Überfüllt, unhygienisch, abgenutzt – und ein Kundenservice, der den Namen kaum verdient. Holmes Place Zürich ist für mich das beste Beispiel dafür, wie ein früher hochwertiges Fitnessstudio durch falsche Prioritäten komplett entgleisen kann. Ich war früher Mitglied und habe mich nach einer Pause erneut angemeldet – und bereue das zutiefst. Hätte ich die aktuellen Rezensionen vorher gelesen, wäre ich gar nicht erst auf das Angebot hereingefallen. Dauerhaft überfüllt – zu allen üblichen Trainingszeiten ist das Studio restlos überfüllt. Geräte sind ständig besetzt, Wartezeiten gehören zum Standard. Ein konzentriertes oder angenehmes Training ist kaum möglich. Trotzdem wird weiter aggressiv geworben, als gäbe es unendliche Kapazitäten. Bestandsmitglieder scheinen dabei keine Rolle zu spielen. Marketing-Welle statt Qualität.. Holmes Place investiert sichtbar mehr Energie in Social-Media-Marketing, Rabattaktionen, Black-Friday-Deals etc. als in das tatsächliche Trainingserlebnis. Dadurch strömen immer mehr externe Personen ins Studio, was die ohnehin schlechte Situation weiter verschärft. Atmosphäre, Hygiene & Zustand – alles andere als Premium Statt einer hochwertigen, ruhigen Trainingsumgebung herrscht hektisches Chaos. Die Hygiene, insbesondere in Duschen und Umkleiden, ist oft mangelhaft und unangenehm. Viele Geräte sind abgenutzt, und wird wohl aufgrund der Renovation nicht investiert. Kundenservice – weit entfernt von Premium Von einem Premium-Fitnessstudio darf man zumindest einen professionellen Kundenservice erwarten. Doch auch hier enttäuscht Holmes Place massiv. Mein Versuch, aufgrund der untragbaren Bedingungen eine ausserordentliche Kündigung zu erwirken, wurde vom Management schlecht begründet und lapidar abgelehnt – mit einer Standardantwort, die offensichtlich an alle gleichermassen verschickt wird. Es wirkt, als hätte man solche Anfragen schon unzählige Male erhalten und würde sie dennoch reflexartig abwimmeln, statt sich ernsthaft mit der Kritik auseinanderzusetzen.

Esperienza negativa: absolutely insane how badly you get treated, especially young people. they do not let you temrinate your abo even if you stayed a year, let them know yiu got harassed. they also talk poorly down on you with no respect. i found it always super full and kinda nasty. it got better afyer they renovated some of it. but truly i would have loved to read this before i signed up for this. i'm fighting to cancel this membership since two months as well as my friend which got mistreated badly.

Viele der Probleme, die man bereits in den zahlreichen schlechten Online-Rezensionen findet, treffen voll zu: ständig defekte Sauna, mangelhaft gereinigte Duschen, schmutzige und beschädigte Decken im Ruheraum – trotz mehrfacher Meldungen passiert nichts. Die Anlage wirkt zunehmend vernachlässigt und steht in keinem Verhältnis zu den hohen Mitgliedsbeiträgen. Noch schlimmer ist jedoch der Umgang mit Kundenanliegen und Kündigungen. Statt Lösungen oder Verständnis gab es nur Blockaden und Zahlungsaufforderungen, obwohl klar ist, dass die angebotene Leistung seit Monaten nicht dem entspricht, was versprochen wird. Der Service vermittelt den Eindruck, dass Kundenzufriedenheit keine Priorität hat. Die vielen negativen Rezensionen im Internet kommen offensichtlich nicht von ungefähr – und meine eigenen Erfahrungen bestätigen diese leider vollständig. Ihre wiederholte Standardantwort ist höchst bedauerlich und in keiner Weise zufriedenstellend. Die darin enthaltenen, offensichtlich nicht ernst gemeinten Entschuldigungen und Ausreden sind weder professionell noch angemessen. Ein derartiges Vorgehen stellt ein deutliches Armutszeugnis für den Umgang mit Kunden dar. Insbesondere irritiert, dass keinerlei erkennbarer Wille besteht, eine sachgerechte und lösungsorientierte Klärung herbeizuführen. Dieses Verhalten entspricht nicht den Erwartungen an einen seriösen Dienstleister und wird seinem eigenen Anspruch in keiner Weise gerecht.

Es tut uns aufrichtig leid zu lesen, dass wir Ihren Erwartungen in den letzten Monaten nicht gerecht werden konnten. Kundenzufriedenheit liegt uns extrem am Herzen, und es entspricht keinesfalls unserem Anspruch, dass Sie wiederholt Probleme mit der Sauna, der Reinigung und dem Zustand einzelner Bereiche erlebt haben. Bezüglich der von Ihnen angesprochenen Themen rund um Kündigung und Mitgliedschaft möchten wir betonen, dass wir uns stets bemühen, Lösungen zu finden. Gleichzeitig sind wir an unsere AGBs gebunden, die uns in manchen Fällen leider keinen Spielraum für Ausnahmen lassen. Dass dies bei Ihnen als mangelndes Entgegenkommen wahrgenommen wurde, bedauern wir sehr.
Wir haben bereits mehrfach über die Entwicklung des Journey Clubs, unserem brandneuen Club, der im nächsten Jahr eröffnen wird, informiert. Parallel dazu setzen wir alles daran, dass im aktuellen Clubbetrieb weiterhin möglichst alles rund läuft und bestehende Herausforderungen schnell und nachhaltig adressiert werden.

Esperienza negativa: - Poor AirConditioning (super hot in spring/summer) -> update Nov 25: issues persist since 2023! - Poor Club Management / Bad Client Service - Overcrowded (way too many members for the training area provided) —> update Nov 25: and it’s getting worse and worse, during the week after 6pm literally every machine is constantly occupied, even the free training area is so occupied one can barely have a square meter to oneself + zero air and it gets super smelly bc no air conditioning - Lots of broken equipment —> update Nov 25:(repair took partially over 4 months) - Hygiene amenities are quite old - Trainer on the floor not always present Can expect much much more for the price range and „premium“-label they give themselves -> no exclusivity, no high end. IF they at least would provide temperature and air conditions so that one could use the gym properly in spring and summer - I would already be happy - but apparently not manageable - the manager claims that swiss law restricts her from doing it while at the same time the whole Jelmoli was a fridge compared to the gym - I would be surprised if she argues that different regulations apply—> just cheap excuses to cover up their mismanagement. Dear MANAGER I am happy to remove the accurate but negative review if you start providing the service you promise.

Esperienza negativa: Holmes is very average despite the price tag. It's always crowded, they let in all these random people with day passes who have no gym etiquette, locker rooms are old, half the showers lack toiletries, etc. But the worst part is the staff. The guys working here are so unfriendly and arrogant. The gym manager is the worst - totally full of himself - so I guess they are all following his example? Everyone I train with complains about this. It's so weird seeing people act so cocky about a gym that is honestly really mediocre. Hopefully Zurich will eventually get a proper luxury gym, but this is not it.

Esperienza fantastica: Holmes Place Zürich Jelmoli, along with the entire Jelmoli building, is currently undergoing a major renovation. In its time, Holmes Place was one of the best fitness clubs in town, though it has since needed a well-deserved refresh which I understand is now work in progress as part of the exciting new “Version 2.0.” We had a great experience there overall, with helpful trainers and excellent facilities at the time. While there were a few misunderstandings with the front desk regarding the contract details, Dina provided outstanding support and resolved everything efficiently. The location is unbeatable, perfect for those who enjoy shopping nearby or stopping in after a busy day at work. Membership also offers access to other Holmes Place clubs around Lake Zurich, which is a great perk, especially for weekends in the summer. We look forward to seeing the upgraded club and may potentially consider rejoining once the central gym re-aligns with the renewed standards and pricing.

Esperienza negativa: Dieses Studio ist eine Zumutung. Jedes Mal muss ich feststellen, dass mindestens ein Gerät nicht funktioniert. Hanteln sind teilweise sehr veraltet. Die Umkleidekabine ist dreckig und entspricht nicht dem Standard anderer Studios. Das Personal (nur Englisch sprechend) ist nicht zuvorkommend. Mails werden nicht beantwortet. Die gesamte Dienstleistung steht in keinem Verhältnis zum hohen Preis.

Esperienza negativa: Überteuert und renovationsbedürftig, vor allem die Garderoben im desolaten Zustand. Für diesen Preis echt nicht ok. Einzig die Lage macht vieles wett, aber das alleine reicht nicht um ein unverschämt teures Abo abzuschliessen .

Esperienza negativa: They charge some of the highest prices in Zurich but the place is packed and filled with older machines It used to be manageable, but now you’re lucky if you find a free machine — and that’s not even during peak hours. Now they have been letting in too many one-time entries and running group classes like Hyrox in the main training areas which makes it really uncomfortable for regular members trying to train. The management is doing a horrible job overall — unfortunately, I am already looking for ways to quit my membership as soon as possible but i am still bound by the contract. My advice - go somewhere else. Even the cheaper gyms in Zurich are less crowded.

Esperienza negativa: Der Preis des Abonnements steht in keinem Verhältnis zur gebotenen Leistung. Die Kommunikation mit dem Management und der Administration gestaltet sich äußerst schwierig. Reklamationen werden nicht ernst genommen oder man bekommt einfach keine Rückmeldung. Zudem spricht ein Großteil des Personals kaum Deutsch. Die Garderoben sind häufig unordentlich, und auch die Hygiene lässt teilweise zu wünschen übrig. Das Fitnessstudio wirkt insgesamt in die Jahre gekommen. Die Ruhezonen für Members, werden teilweise von Mitarbeitenden genutzt – teils sogar für Telefonate. Im Sommer werden während der regulären Öffnungszeiten Partys auf der Terrasse veranstaltet, was den Trainingsbetrieb zusätzlich stört.

Esperienza negativa: I was enrolled to a spinning class with Frida Nilson, and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience. I arrived nine minutes late, and the door was closed. I tried to signal through the glass to ask if it was still possible to join the class, but Frida Nilson completely ignored me. She looked at me twice without any gesture — not even a simple yes or no — and then turned away. A simple hand signal would have been enough, but instead her behavior came across as rude and unprofessional. For a studio of this level, I truly expected a more respectful and courteous attitude.

For safety and quality reasons, our instructors are required to close the studio doors once the class has started. This ensures that all participants receive a proper warm-up and that the session can proceed without disruption. We also have specific rules regarding group fitness attendance, which are outlined in our member app under the Group Fitness section. In order for classes to start and finish on time, these guidelines need to be followed consistently, and unfortunately, instructors are not permitted to make exceptions.
That said, we completely understand that clear communication matters. We regret that the interaction felt impolite, that was certainly not our intention and we have shared your feedback internally to ensure that any future situations are handled with clearer and more courteous communication.

Esperienza negativa: Für den Preis, den wir zahlen, bietet das Fitnessstudio nicht genügend Ausstattung, es fehlt deutlich an Gewichten, einer Bankdrückstation, Geräten für das Rückentraining sowie an anderen kleinen, aber wichtigen Trainingsgeräten. Zudem ist ein Grossteil der vorhandenen Geräte veraltet und sollte ersetzt werden. Zu den Stosszeiten, insbesondere zwischen 17:00 und 20:00 Uhr, ist das Fitnessstudio überfüllt, sodass man oft lange warten muss, um ein Gerät benutzen zu können. Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt ist der Zustand der Duschen. Auch wenn erkennbar ist, dass versucht wird, diese sauber zu halten, ist dennoch häufig ein unangenehmer Uringeruch wahrnehmbar – was für eine Einrichtung dieser Preisklasse nicht akzeptabel ist. Esperienza negativa: Für den Preis, den wir zahlen, bietet das Fitnessstudio nicht genügend Ausstattung, es fehlt deutlich an Gewichten, einer Bankdrückstation, Geräten für das Rückentraining sowie an anderen kleinen, aber wichtigen Trainingsgeräten. Zudem ist ein Grossteil der vorhandenen Geräte veraltet und sollte ersetzt werden. Zu den Stosszeiten, insbesondere zwischen 17:00 und 20:00 Uhr, ist das Fitnessstudio überfüllt, sodass man oft lange warten muss, um ein Gerät benutzen zu können. Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt ist der Zustand der Duschen. Esperienza positiva: I was a member for 2+ years and based on my 10+ years spent in Zurich, I can say with confidence that this gym is not a premium gym. It’s an okay gym, machines are fairly new (Jelmoli location) and the towel service is a nice addition, however with the construction going on, existing clients seem to be the last priority for the club. I could start listing a number of shortcomings but I don’t want to be petty. Go try it yourself and see if it works for you. I had a good time there and had several killer workouts (big thanks to my amazing personal trainer, Máté!) but the price and the little inconveniences that come with the construction (e.g., today, there was no hot water) just made this gym not desirable enough for me to continue my membership. The rooftop terrace is great, though, and I’ll never have workouts with a better view…so long, Holmes Place Jelmoli!

Esperienza negativa: ⚠️ Stay away at all costs! ⚠️ They trapped me in a 2y contract by conveniently “forgetting” to mention the fine print. The lockers? Same scam. Random charges appearing out of nowhere, with a “oh, we didn’t forget to mention, you just have to pay.” And if that wasn’t enough, the place is suffocatingly crowded. NOT a premium gym at all! Some creeps here as well

According to the contract, I should be able to cancel my membership. I already provided proof of deregistration of my address and all the required information, and I’m no longer in Zurich. Yet, they still keep deducting money from my account every month. Their customer service is poor, and they don’t even reply to my messages

Disappointed, as I came all the way there planning to work out, only to find it already closed. Update after your answer: This happened on the day of my original review. Esperienza positiva: Nice gym, well kept. Fitness area has several state of the art machines and at the same time enough space for some good old weight workout. Offers a nice terrace where one could train outside with some nice weather. Staff is very professional and there are a lot of different classes offered as well. I particularly recommend the TRX one with Sara. She is extremely methodical, takes time to thoroughly explain the several movements and forms, and she’s super energetic! She’s also a fantastic trainer, always putting clients at ease and constantly eager to walk you through your fitness journey. I only wish there were more advanced yoga and stretching classes offered
Esperienza negativa: If you want to die from lack of air, this is the place in summer. It was +33°C outside, windows sealed shut, and the gym hit +32°C inside. No AC, no ventilation—just a packed room of people sweating. At one point, I thought I might pass out from the heat alone. + Small changing room- where sauna on full blast! You start sweating before you even reach the gym floor. Towels to give-nice! But maybe to start with the basics: air that won’t kill us. Gyms with half the price in Zurich manage much better!

Esperienza positiva: Holmes Place Jelmoli is undeniably beautiful – the rooftop, the design, the atmosphere are all impressive. But unfortunately, that premium feel doesn’t carry over into the rest of the experience. The community in Holmes is strong - no question there are really nice people among the members and its great for networking. After signing the contract, the support drops off fast. The team is rarely helpful or proactive, and you quickly get the sense that member care isn’t really a priority. What’s even more disappointing is the lack of transparency around pricing – everyone seems to be paying something different. I was even charged an extra fee just for switching from Holmes Place Jelmoli to Holmes Place Crowne Plaza, without any break or session in between. That felt highly questionable. For the price, you expect a high standard of service, clarity, and consistency – and Holmes Place just doesn’t deliver. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are much better options in Zurich that offer real value and respect for their members.

However, I’ve had a disappointing experience with their pricing practices. There seems to be a lack of transparency, and unfortunately, it feels like they try to get more money from clients through misleading information. In particular, I found Marcel to be two-faced and not client-oriented. What’s said during initial conversations doesn’t always match what happens when it comes to billing or agreements. It’s unfortunate because I really like the gym itself, but trust is important, and this experience has made me question continuing my membership. I hope they work on improving their communication and honesty with members.

Esperienza positiva: At first, I was quite disappointed with Holmes Place Jelmoli in Zurich. Many machines, treadmills, stairmasters, and steppers were out of order for weeks or even months. There were often been no paper towels/soap (in some containers) in the men’s restroom, and it also lacked a toilet seat for a while. The steam room has a musty, unpleasant smell not really enjoyable and a big loss of quality and money you are paying. Damaged tiles, worn-out walls, and inconsistent cleanliness made the gym feel neglected and not worth its premium price. I even considered canceling my membership but ultimately reached an agreement to stay. Thanks again to Frau Schneider Leidescher. Now, after some months of nearly constant training five days a week, my opinion has improved significantly. The community is fantastic, creating a motivating and nice atmosphere. Most of the equipment is in good condition, and I heared after having chat with the staff that repair delays were due to manufacturers rather than the gym itself (can’t verify it, but I trust the team here). Holmes Place has also made major improvements, the men’s changing rooms, floors, and spa were repainted, broken tiles replaced, and cleanliness has improved. The staff is another highlight. They’re knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to help. I’m also excited about the new Holmes Place club opening in 2026 and the one afterwards, which promises great new facilities. Will be pretty cool. However, the high membership price remains a downside. Migros Fitnesspark offers four modern gyms with spa access in Zurich’s city, along with five personal training sessions, for 105 CHF/month, while Holmes Place charges 190 CHF/month for only two clubs and two sessions. Additionally, every member pays a completely different price, which makes it less visible, understandable and justifiable, a steep difference that isn’t fully warranted. Overall, I now really enjoy training here, and the gym has shown real effort in addressing concerns. There’s still room for improvement, but the positives outweigh the negatives. The biggest consideration remains whether the high cost aligns with the value provided. I would like to give 3,5 stars, but this is not possible so I give 3, maybe in the future 4. But I‘m still happy to go there everyday until the new club is opening :)

We are paying for a top tier gym and we need to bring the bands from home? Really? The toilets and showers always dirty and smelly. I regret doing a two year membership and leaving Indigo.

He crafted a personalized program to meet my fitness goals very fast. He is very knowledgeable in fitness and showed me exactly how to do the exercises. He showed me how to keep track of everything and i am excited to start bettering myself. He also works out with you so that you can watch and correct your form. He gives recommendations on diets and supplements to help you on your fitness journey. I cannot recommend him enough!

Few machines, almost always crowded, and too many PTs with their clients, not really letting you use their machines or their space, Some members of staff (not all) very arrogant.

They will sell you the dream with all the bells and whistles but then once you're signed up they don't want to hear if you're unhappy. For any frustration you just get told "it's being looked at" or just ignored. It's absolutely not a premium gym and definitely not worth the money. I'm having to pay for a second membership elsewhere.

Esperienza positiva: Das gym selbst ist gut. Schöner Blick über Zürich. Ausreichend Gewichte und alles vorhanden. 1 Punkt Abzug: Bei der Anmeldung wurde das Angebot zu meinen Ungunsten „angepasst“. Ich habe online ein 7 Tages Paket gebucht, bei dem es heisst, dass es komplett auf eine Anmeldung angerechnet wird. Aktuell gab es eine weitere Offerte. Dem Mitarbeiter (ich sage mal nicht wer es war), war das wohl zu viel Discount und er hat mir nur einen Teil des Online Pakets anerkannt und die Offerte auch „angepasst“. Zum Training selbst: Zürich + das Jahr 2024 … das ist nichts spezifisches für diesen Ort, so ist es halt heutzutage … daher kein Abzug … unbedingt Stosszeiten vermeiden (18uhr), wer das nicht erträgt und old school training machen will… morgens um 6 laufen aber auch ein paar seltsame Gestalten rum … mich eingeschlossen Wer es sich leisten kann: klare Empfehlung!

Esperienza fantastica: Having been a member at Holmes Place in Lisbon, I was happy to find the same high standards when I joined in Zurich. The gym offers excellent facilities, a wide range of classes, and a friendly, professional staff who make the experience enjoyable and motivating. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a quality fitness environment in Zurich!
Esperienza fantastica: Holmes Place Jelmoli in Zürich ist wirklich ausgezeichnet. Alles ist sehr gut – von den professionellen Trainern bis zur Sauberkeit und dem exzellenten Spa-Bereich. Zwar etwas teuer, aber definitiv das Geld wert. Besonders toll: Man kann auch draußen trainieren. Insgesamt ein großartiges Erlebnis, das ich sehr empfehlen kann.
Esperienza negativa: Avoid overrated and not good value for money!! I have been to several gyms in my life and I regret to say this is the worst I've been treated. They are quick to deceive you in signing up!!!
Esperienza negativa: It’s been probably 5 years since i cancelled my membership, they keep cold calling me to renew my membership. I have blocked their number(s), told them to delete my data but they are persistent. Stay away.
Esperienza negativa: claiming to be a premium fitness club also requires to work on the hygiene standards. Often times the gym is a bit filthy and since years the soap dispensers look like this. Just go the “extra mile” and empty the gross soap and replace it with only one brand of soap. Thank you very much!
