Esperienza negativa: I joined this club with my son three years ago. Back then, it was an amazing community that supported everyone growing together. It felt like a family. Sadly, in the last year lots of things changed: Many classes are now taught by lower ranked belts, individuals are measured by their ability to smash their oponents and even the kids are encouraged to get increasily aggresive, all this leading to injuries. The owner keeps changing the schedule and cancelling classes on short notice, and clients‘ opinions are discredited to the point of being silenced in forums, even while abo is still running. I will forever be grateful for the wonderful people and learnings that I took but as it is now, I would no longer recommend it.

Esperienza fantastica: Tolle BJJ-Schule mit super Atmosphäre! Die Trainer sind sehr aufmerksam und die Schüler freundlich. Besonders die Kinderkurse sind top. Ich empfehle es jedem – egal ob man Kämpfer werden will oder einfach nur mittags als Hobby mit der Familie trainieren möchte. Perfekt für eine aktive Pause während der Arbeit!

Esperienza fantastica: Went to Switzerland on vacation and asked Tiago if it would be okay to drop-in, he was simply spectacular. If I went to another place im 100% sure I wouldn't get the same experience, everyone was super friendly, family kinda vibe, people that regularly compete, the training it self was extremely technical and on the end rolled with the professors and students, very technicall and good, never felt any malice intention or in danger. If your planning to drop-in to train in Zurich or start jiu-jitsu I couldn't recommend a better dojo. Thank you :)

Esperienza fantastica: I dropped in to Tiago's academy when I was visiting Zurich recently, and I'd highly recommend it. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, including the instructors (Tiago and Raquel) who were extremely knowledgable and great teachers. I hope to visit again in the future!

Esperienza fantastica: I've trained for a week (4 evening classes) at Tiago's dojo. Tiago started his dojo teaching to kids only and later started to teach adults, I've seen him interact with them and it's obvious he loves them very much and they have a lot of fun. He's also very proud of them and their great competition results. The gym is quite small, I would say we were about 15 per class and filling up the space well, white and blue, all ages with somewhat of a gap in the 20-30 range (I assumed it was because the gym developed from the kid's parents). The atmosphere is very familial and chill (they self describe as family orientated), all my training partners were very respectful and welcoming. Tiago is really a great guy with a super positive attitude, you cannot dislike him, the classes are a fun time. The classes are given in English, we start with a warmup given by a student while presumably Tiago takes a break (he has a tight schedule with many classes and private lessons), jumping around, running, high knees, pushups, 10 min max, then the technique, sometimes positional sparring in theking of the hill format then 2 or 3 3 minute rolls (on the Friday we did 3 or 4 5 min rolls). All week we studied the same main moves, single leg take down, and a sequence switching between different guards, + some guard passing drills and a sub from side control on the Friday. Tiago gave me more personal attention than I'd expect as a visitor and his input was very valuable, he offered me a roll on my last lesson too. I liked the possibility to train in the gi every week evening, didn't try no gi but I saw 3 or 4 tall jacked dude coming out of it so I expect the rolls to be challenging! I recommend the gym, especially for kids and older beginners that have some apprehension towards this beautiful sport.

You're able to challenge them without overwhelming them, and you always make sure that they're safe and having fun. Your coaching during the sparring sections is also unparalleled. You teach them not only BJJ, but also lessons for life, like respect, dedication, and never giving up. Now, Tiago de Paula BJJ is part of our life. Our 6 and 9-year-old kids train there, and my husband and I do private classes with you. The environment at your dojo is like a family. Everyone is included and feels welcome. The events you promote, like kids' camps, summer barbecues, Halloween, and Christmas parties, are fun and build a great connection between the kids and the parents. I was really impressed how he kept all the children of very varied ability interested. Would definitely recommend and come back again. Both my children had a lot of fun, even the youngest who never normally joins in.
