My son trains at this academy, and I cannot help but highlight the attention they give to each student. I especially want to thank Coach Chiri—his technique and training methods are truly impressive. He knows how to find an individual approach to every student, creating an atmosphere where kids learn and grow while feeling confident and comfortable. My son had the incredible opportunity to meet a legend of the jiu-jitsu world, Renzo Gracie. This was not only an important and inspiring moment for him but also a great source of motivation for his training. A huge thanks to Frota Academy for providing such a unique opportunity and experience! Your approach to training and your dedication to seeing each student succeed make Frota Academy a special place. Everyone, the owner professor Augusto Frota, staff and students were very welcoming, friendly and professional. Training and sparring was great, fun and very technical and Mr Frota even had the kindness of spending some extra time to show me some great techniques after training. Augusto Frota ist ein herausragender BJJ Meister. Die Mitglieder waren alle freundlich und aufgeschlossen. Besonders toll fand ich, dass er sich als Betreiber des Gyms extra Zeit genommen hat, um einige Aspekte des Gymbetriebs und Trainerdaseins zu besprechen (da ich selbst Gymbetreiber und Coach bin). Fantastische Erfahrung: The best martial school i ve ever been. Wont even call it a school, is more like a private club where your friends get together and training together! Great group class schedule where everyone can find convenient time slots. Amazing coaches, with no exceptions. Coaches keep great environment and promote a respectful attitude among the members. School has a full equipped gym.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Professor Frota was very helpful instructing to lift the hips of your opponent in order to immobilize their movement. He allowed me to work at my level while giving enough resistance to challenge my defensive techniques. The brown belt teaching the class taught us guard passes. The students were respectful and friendly. Professor Frota will pair you up with the right person to insure a good roll without getting hurt. Being 64 years old that is important because it takes seniors months on end to heal. The cost for the class was 40 Swiss Franks. Kind of pricey, but it is a first rate facility with locker, showers, a complete weight lifting gym and another room for Muay Thai instruction. To top it all off Professor Frota, a 5 stripe black belt, offered me a choice of a T-Shirt or rash guard. The rash guard itself probably costs at least 20 to 30 Swiss Franks. Highly recommend this academy if you are traveling to Zurich.

I was traveling and staying for only 1 week but I got personal attention even from the Big Champ And the founder Augusto Frota which was really nice. I will definitely visit then when I am back to Switzerland. Highly recommended!

Fantastische Erfahrung: I came with children from Ukraine. It was important for me to give the children what they had in Ukraine, namely to introduce them to martial arts. In this club, we were treated with understanding and support, they offered to train on very good conditions. Coaches help children adapt to new conditions. Fantastische Erfahrung: Das Frota Gym überzeugt nicht nur mit einer tadellosen und gepflegten Infrastruktur, sondern vor allem auch mit den tollen Angeboten an Trainings und Seminaren. Alleine BJJ kann man bis zum 18x pro Woche trainieren. Von frühmorgens bis abends gibt es immer wieder Slots. So dass auch für die anspruchvollsten Kalender das Training möglich ist. Das Ganze wird kombiniert durch weitere Angebote wie Gym, Thaiboxen, Grappling, und vieles mehr. Bin selber seit über 2 Jahren Member und überzeugt wie seit dem 1. Tag.

Fantastische Erfahrung: I trained here from 2012-2019 and, looking back, I'm grateful for having a safe and clean place to train. I met a lot of great people at this gym over the years who enriched my life and kept me on a good path. There are great competitors at this gym who grind everyday as well as super casual guys (like myself) who are fight fans who try to train twice a week to stay in shape. Either way, you will have the support, the facilities, and the teaching at your disposal to become the best version of yourself. For prospective BJJ newbies: This is a fantastic place to begin your BJJ journey. Beginners classes provide a comprehensive structure that will grow your foundation and give you the tools and confidence to understand if BJJ is really for you. About Leadership and Teaching: Professor Frota is an excellent and very knowledgeable black belt. He has been in the fight sports game for over 20 years and his attention is spread among a wide variety of projects in the fight sports community where he applies his business background (he also worked in the banking industry). He won't be teaching many classes (if you see the schedule- you'll see that is an impossible feat), but he makes up for his absence by providing world class instructors who are either his own black belts or prospective black belts sourced from the best BJJ competition programs in the world. Bottom Line: I live a very good life, and training here contributed to and raised the quality of it. 5 stars.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Highly recommended!! They have something for everyone: brasilian jiu jitsu, mma, grappling, boxing, thaiboxing and kickboxing. They offer private classes and also membership with unlimited group classes. The trainers are excellent: knowledgeable, always friendly and helpful. :) And the most important - all the classes are challenging and fun, the club is clean and everyone is so friendly - you can really enjoy training here. I will definitely be back when im in Zurich again.

Positive Erfahrung: Minus: No clearly defined curriculum. The owner is arrogant and money-centric. Plus: Other instructors are helpful and friendly though. Better facilities than some other schools. You decide what is more important for you: The academy's training mindset is to teach about points and point strategy to prepare for mat competitions and to propagate the school, not for real life application - in the street, they will try to kick and punch you in your face!

Fantastische Erfahrung: Can't rate this school enough - I've trained at many martial art schools and this has to be the most professional I've had the pleasure of joining. It is so heavily active in the BJJ world community, i'm still amazed how many world class seminars are organised and held here in Zürich and globally. Fantastische Erfahrung: I did a private lesson here with Augusto the owner. Augusto has been practising martial arts for over 25 years and is well known in BJJ and MMA circles. The lesson was fantastic - after a warm up and some pad work we did some ground sparring. Augusto's instructions were "Try to kill me but without striking." He was able to demonstrate that I was basically helpless by putting me in a series of submission holds and chokes but he did it in a way that did not cause me any injuries at all. I left the dojo feeling pumped.

Negative Erfahrung: The dedicated trainers were recommendable, but as soon as money comes into play, you're being treated like their enemy. I had a membership I could hardly use because of Covid, found another sport during the closing of the gym and couldn't get refunded for a year membership of which I only took 5 lessons. On top of that, I was never reimbursed for the Gi I bought there but never wore or even picked up. I was verbally promised to get a reimbursement, if I would leave my bank account number, which I did. I never saw a reimbursement. Lousy service for a Gym doing this well and being this big. EDIT: the extensive reply the owner leaves doesn't take away from their decision not to follow up on a verbal agreement

I was able to meet friendly people and instructors at the jiu-jitsu gym I visited during my travels. A place where you can communicate through Jiu-Jitsu even if you don’t communicate well Friendly people, spacious and clean exercise area It has everything you need for Jiu-Jitsu training. I will definitely come back the next time I visit Switzerland. OSS!
